Installation

Latent series: tiling the cover step by step

Anthracite WC wall with tile-clad Latent covers

What sets the Latent series apart from other built-in products is that the cover is clad with the same tiles as the wall. When the cover closes, only a fine joint line remains on the wall. Achieving this result requires the installation to be done in the right order.

Before installation

  • The size and thickness of the tiles to be used should be confirmed.
  • The position of the product on the wall should be marked on the tile layout plan.
  • If a hygiene spray will be used (Pier Latent, Roche Latent), the plumbing should be ready.

1. Joint plan

The edges of the cover are positioned to line up with the tile joints. This way, when the cover closes, its joint line looks like a natural continuation of the other joints on the wall.

2. Setting the body

The built-in body is fitted into the wall before tiling. The front face of the body is adjusted to the finished wall surface (plaster + adhesive + tile thickness). Level and plumb should be checked at this stage.

3. Tiling the wall

The wall tiles are laid around the body following the joint plan. Where cuts are needed along the edge of the body, they should be clean and straight.

4. Cladding the cover

A piece is cut from the wall tiles to the size of the cover and fixed to the cover with a suitable adhesive. With patterned or veined tiles, it is best to choose the cover piece so that the pattern continues from the neighboring tiles.

5. Final check

Once the adhesive has dried, open and close the cover several times to check the edge gaps. The gap between the cover and the wall should be even, and the cover should not rub at any point.

Installed correctly, the Latent cover becomes a surface that goes unnoticed on the wall but is used every day.
